For the second straight year, we are saddened to announce the cancellation of the Northwest Side Irish Parade. Due to the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the city will not be issuing permits for any parades or large gatherings in the first quarter of 2021.While we are disappointed in this development, the safety of our community is our top priority and we understand the City of Chicago Department of Public Health's advisable concerns and the recommendations of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) that prompts this decision to help keep citizens safe and healthy. The NWSI Parade traditionally takes place the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day in the Norwood Park neighborhood of the Northwest Side of Chicago with the sole purpose to promote Irish Heritage. NWSI takes great pride in raising awareness and funds for extended community efforts and charity organizations with Misericordia, Muscular Dystrophy, Chicagoland Food Depository and Dixon Center for Veterans and Military Community Services just to name a few. Veterans and Military Families have always had a special place with the parade as our founder Daniel Murray is an Army Veteran and co-Founder Elizabeth Murray Belcaster has been working with veterans and military families for over a decade. While our traditional St. Patrick's Day parade will not take place this year, the parade committee is now looking into alternative ways of celebrating our Irish Heritage. We are working with organizers and communities to identify ways to celebrate this St. Patrick's Day in a safe manner for the community that aligns with ongoing public health guidance. We will keep everyone updated on virtual and community events and we will be supporting the local businesses.
Sincerely, Daniel Murray - NWSI President Elizabeth Murray Belcaster - Parade Organizer

Hi everyone!
March is right around the corner! We’re sad to see that the NWSI parade has been cancelled this year. We would love to honor that weekend and gather the community, safely, while supporting our local businesses. The Norwood Park Chamber and the Northwest Side Irish will be hosting a Scavenger Hunt amongst our businesses from March 12th-14th .
When: March 12th-14th. Participants will have the entire weekend to complete the hunt to prevent overcrowding our businesses.
How it’s set up: We will be using the app “Scavr” which is accessible via Android and iPhone. Participants will register for the event, choose a max of 6 members, choose a team name, and complete challenges along the way! We will also be posting video and picture responses after the event ends. Points will be rewarded for each reply. The first 5 teams to enter all of the correct information will win a prize! The Chamber will be handing out goodie bags on March 14th from 11AM-1PM outside the Train Station.
What’s NEEDED from YOU: Businesses will be required to submit 1 fun clue, task, or picture/video challenge for participating teams to complete. You may also select how participants respond: worded response, picture, video, or geo tagging!
Examples of tasks:
-Take a 10 sec. video of a teammate dancing in front of Spotlight Dance company! (Participants will reply with a video)
-Located at 6133 N Northwest Hwy, what is the name of the century old photography studio? Please check in at this business. (Participants will check in)
-Take a picture of your team in front of Coach’s Bar & Grill. (Participants will submit picture)
-The Chamber office is on the move! Where is the new chamber office located? (Participants will reply “Norwood Park Train Station” or with address)
We are encouraging all types of businesses to participate. Your clue/task does not need to require people to enter your business. We want this event to be as safe as possible. Please submit attached participation document by MARCH 8th.
Best Regards,
Samantha Brewer, Executive Director
Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce
